Scarborough Futurist Theatre, Mondays, 24th Jul - 28th Aug They survived bushtucker trials, snakes, creepy crawlies and Carol Thatcher in I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! Now Cannon & Ball present their brand new comedy show, 'Home from the Jungle' and are joined by special guest stars - another of Britain's funniest double acts - the Grumbleweeds, in a hilarious evening of entertainment, which is suitable for the whole family.
Still the crowd pleasersReview from the Blackpool Evening Gazette
When veteran comedy duo Cannon and Ball appear on the stage in Blackpool invariably they attract a full house. I'm not quite sure why. Light entertainment with every corny old joke in the book doesn't do it for me. But for the 3,000 strong audience the duo, who have been cracking the same gags in the same way for more than four decades, couldn't put a foot wrong. Last year they were a runaway success in the Comedy Legends show at the Grand Theatre. The year before they did it again at the same venue. It appears to be the stuff Blackpool's visitors want to see. This year and fresh from ITVs I'm A Celebrity, Bobby and Tommy have a midweek slot at the bigger venue of the Opera House, which is not easy to fill, especially on a Wednesday night. But they have pulled it off, attracting people of all ages for their Home From The Jungle show. Bobby's well-stretched red piggin' braces piggin' twanging and his familiar "naughty boy" banter with long-suffering straight guy Tommy had a faint echo of a Morecambe and Wise sketch. A couple of minutes was spent talking about their jungle experiences. With every comment, gesture and joke the audience howled as if hearing their well-trodden format for the very first time. They absolutely loved them. Fellow comedy duo The Grumbleweeds kicked off the first half. Hilarious observation humour wasn't wasted on an audience which didn't need any warming up (nothing to do with the temperature of the auditorium, which must have measured twice the outdoor temperature!) By the time Cannon and Ball came on at the start of the second half they could have said or done pretty much anything, and they would have still got a big laugh. For me it was not so much the celebrities bit... but get me out of here! Cannon and Ball's Home From The Jungle with special guest stars the Grumbleweeds is on every Wednesday until October 25 at 7.30pm. tickets are £15 (seniors £12.50, children half price).
